The AHA Transformer slides off your bakkie without tools and without permanently converting anything. This guide walks you through the full off-loading process using the off-loading frame. You will need the off-loading frame, a vehicle jack, and the winch cable before you start. Work on a flat, hard, level surface throughout.
Step 1: Position the Off-Loading Frame
Assemble the off-loading frame and confirm it is fully secured. Park it directly behind the bakkie, aligned with the load bed and level with the ground. Slide the frame forward until the fitment frame on the Transformer is flush against it, creating one continuous sliding surface from bakkie to frame. Lock the frame in place by engaging its wheel brakes.
Step 2: Stabilise the Bakkie
Place the vehicle jack under the tow bar and raise it approximately 10 cm. This prevents the bakkie's suspension from lifting when the Transformer's weight shifts during off-loading, a small movement that is enough to break the alignment between the load bed and the frame. Do not skip this step.
Step 3: Unbolt and Attach the Winch
Remove the two bolts securing the Transformer to the fitment frame, one on the bottom left and one on the bottom right. Release the two ratchet straps on each side. Attach the winch cable to the central bracket at the base of the Transformer. Begin winching the Transformer onto the off-loading frame, then stop after approximately half a metre. Do not continue past this point yet.
Step 4: Disconnect the Electrical Connection
With the Transformer half-way onto the frame, unplug the Brad Harrison connector at the rear of the bakkie. Once disconnected, continue winching until the Transformer is fully on the off-loading frame. Secure it with the ratchet straps.
Step 5: Release and Move
Disconnect the off-loading frame from the bakkie. Lower the jack and release the wheel brakes. The Transformer is now free and can be moved to its storage position. Re-engage the wheel brakes once it is in place.
