Most outdoor units are sold only as a complete package. The manufacturer already decided what you need and included it in the price, whether you want it or not. Solar panel, batteries, fridge, awning, geyser. All priced in, and all of it non-negotiable.

When you are in your 20's, you explore. You drive the corrugated roads, and you climb the passes, and cross the rivers. You tackle Sani Pass. You cross the Richtersveld, and push into terrain that tests both you and your bakkie. The Transformer goes anywhere your bakkie can go.
In your 30's there are children now. You plan weekends away, school holidays, and campsites with space to run. It accommodates all of you. Up to eight people in 4 private quarters. Everyone has a place to sleep. Nobody is in anyone else's hair.
During your 40's the children leave the house, or no longer want to tag along. You drive to Satara on a Tuesday. No school schedule anymore, and no more compromises on destinations. You sit with coffee and watch the bush wake up. Just the two of you, and no particular reason to be anywhere else.
When you turn 60 retirement awaits, and the real tours can begin. You have the time for them now. You can cross the border into Botswana and just keep going. You'll learn to navigate the potholes through Zambia, and get to know the corrugated gravel roads of Namibia, despite the dusty desert sand. Even the washed-out crossings in Mozambique.
