The AHA Transformer carries a lifetime structural warranty on what AHA manufactured: the shell, frame, and build. It covers manufacturing defects and workmanship failures for the life of the original purchaser, provided the unit receives an annual service. Third-party components carry their own manufacturer warranties, which pass through directly to you. No problem caused by a manufacturing defect has ever gone unresolved.
What the Lifetime Warranty Covers
The lifetime structural warranty covers everything AHA manufactured: the aluminium shell, the steel frame, and the build and workmanship of the unit. If a structural failure is caused by a manufacturing defect or poor workmanship, AHA fixes it. If a component fails due to a defect present at the time of manufacture, it is repaired or replaced at no charge. Wear-and-tear consumables such as velcro are replaced at the standard service fee.
Third-Party Components
Components sourced from other manufacturers carry their own warranties, which pass through directly to you as the owner:
- Victron components: 5-year manufacturer warranty
- BlueNova batteries: 10-year manufacturer warranty
- Other components: as per their respective manufacturers
The Annual Service Requirement
An annual service is required to keep the lifetime warranty active. This is not a fine-print condition. It is how AHA catches anything that needs attention before it becomes a problem. Units that are serviced regularly have a better track record, and the service is also the point at which wear-and-tear items get replaced before they cause inconvenience in the field.
Repairs Away from the Factory
All repairs and modifications are normally carried out by AHA at the factory. But AHA recognises that not every problem happens close to home. If you are in Angola with a torn canvas, or in Namibia with a damaged panel, AHA can authorise a local workshop to carry out a proper repair. Contact AHA first, and authorisation will be confirmed in writing. An authorised repair does not void your warranty.
The key word is proper. If a thornbush tears your canvas in the rain, duct tape gets you to the next town. It is not a repair. AHA will stitch and waterproof the canvas correctly; it will not replace a full panel because a DIY patch masked the damage. The same applies to aluminium: a TIG weld is a repair. Putty is not. AHA covers defects and authorised professional repairs, not the consequences of work that was not done properly in the first place.
If something breaks in the field, the right sequence is: contact AHA, get authorisation in writing, use a professional. That sequence protects your warranty and gets the job done properly.
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
The warranty covers defects, not damage caused by misuse, accidents, or abuse. Unauthorised modifications carried out without AHA's knowledge void the warranty on affected components. All warranty claims must be submitted in writing, with supporting photos and documentation, before any repairs are authorised. The warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.
Pre-Owned Units
Units sold through the AHA Pre-Owned Programme receive a fresh lifetime structural warranty from the date of handover to the new owner, regardless of how old the unit is. This warranty carries the same terms as the original. It is available exclusively through the AHA Pre-Owned Programme and does not apply to private resales.
One Practical Note
AHA recommends waiting until you have received your Transformer and are satisfied with its condition before booking any trips. All equipment remains the property of AHA Outdoor Systems until full and final payment has been received and the unit has left the factory.
If you have a question about the warranty that is not answered here, Dawie will give you a straight answer at the factory or over the phone.
Come and see it in person. No obligation.
