One of the most common questions before a purchase is about weight, and the answer often surprises people, in a good way.
The AHA Transformer has a dry weight of approximately 350kg, making it one of the lightest fully equipped slide-on campers available. That figure isn't accidental. It's the result of building almost entirely from aluminium, with steel reinforcement only where the structure genuinely demands it: high-stress joints, mounting points, and load-bearing sections.
Dry Weight vs. Loaded Weight
350kg is the unit empty: no water, no food, no gear. The Transformer carries 120L of water across its two 60L tanks, which adds 120kg when full. That brings the loaded weight to approximately 470kg before personal kit.
That distinction matters when you're working out your bakkie's payload headroom.
What About My Bakkie's Payload?
Typical one-ton bakkies in South Africa (the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu KB, and their equivalents) carry a payload rating of between 800kg and 1,200kg or more, depending on the model, cab configuration, and accessories already fitted.

Optional additions (fridge, gas geyser, dedicated battery, solar, inverter, awnings, and so on) add weight depending on what you spec. If payload is a consideration on your vehicle, this is worth discussing before you order.
